A Comparison of Methods for Forecasting Demand for Slow Moving Car Parts [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper has a focus on non-stationary time series formed from small non-negative integer values which may contain many zeros and may be over-dispersed.

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

COMPARISON OF ARIMA, EXPONENTIAL SMOOTHING, AND CHEN-SINGH FUZZY MODELS FOR INFLATION FORECASTING IN ASEAN COUNTRIES

open access: yesBarekeng
This study aims to (i) develop predictive models using statistical and fuzzy approaches, and (ii) evaluate their forecasting performance. The data were obtained from www.investing.com for the period 1961 to 2017 and focus on five ASEAN countries ...

Exponential Smoothing Model Selection for Forecasting [PDF]

open access: yes
Applications of exponential smoothing to forecast time series usually rely on three basic methods: simple exponential smoothing, trend corrected exponential smoothing and a seasonal variation thereof. A common approach to select the method appropriate to

Sustainable Catalyst‐Free PLG Networks: Recyclability, Biodegradability, and Functional Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A catalyst‐additive free covalent adaptable network is developed from star‐shaped poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) cross‐linked with pyromellitic dianhydride, enabling internal carboxylic acid‐driven transesterification. The resulting biodegradable network exhibits mechanical robustness (Young's modulus ≈1.6 GPa), complete recyclability, rapid biodegradation

Electrocatalytic Reduction of CO2 to Ethylene: Catalyst Design and Synchrotron‐Based Characterizations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review evaluates strategies for electrochemical CO2 reduction to ethylene, focusing on copper‐based catalyst design and microenvironment modulation to achieve industrial‐grade performance. By leveraging operando synchrotron‐based characterizations, we provide a multiscale understanding of dynamic structural transformations and key reaction ...

Forecasting Australian Macroeconomic variables, evaluating innovations state space approaches [PDF]

open access: yes
Innovations state space time series models that encapsulate the exponential smoothing methodology have been shown to be an accurate forecasting tool. These models for the first time are applied to Australian macroeconomic data.

Exponential Sums Related to Maass Forms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We estimate short exponential sums weighted by the Fourier coefficients of a Maass form. This requires working out a certain transformation formula for non-linear exponential sums, which is of independent interest.
