Facial expression analysis with facial expression deformation
2008 19th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2008In this paper, we proposes an effective and novel approach to recognize subtle facial expression method which is facial expression deformation. The proposed method deforms subtle facial expressions into corresponding extreme facial expressions. Facial expression deformation processes by extracting subtle motion vector of the predefined feature points ...

The response of cells to extracellular signals usually requires altered expression of many genes, possibly including several distinct metabolic pathways. In some cases, only a subset of genes involved in such responses are known, which requires techniques to analyze changes in the expression of multiple genes, both known and unknown.

NEC for Gene Expression Analysis
2006Aim of this work is to apply a novel comprehensive data mining machine learning tool to preprocess and to interpret gene expression data. Furthermore, some visualization facilities are provided. The data mining framework consists of two main parts: preprocessing and clustering-agglomerating phases.

Comparative gene-expression analysis
Trends in Biotechnology, 1999The study of differences in gene-expression patterns is one of the most promising approaches for understanding mechanisms of differentiation and development. In addition, the identification of disease-related target molecules opens new avenues for rational pharmaceutical intervention.

Probabilistic expression analysis on manifolds
Proceedings of the 2004 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2004. CVPR 2004., 2004In this paper, we propose a probabilistic video-based facial expression recognition method on manifolds. The concept of the manifold of facial expression is based on the observation that the images of all possible facial deformations of an individual make a smooth manifold embedded in a high dimensional image space.

Computer analysis of human face images includes detection of faces, identification of people, and understanding of expression. Among these three tasks, facial expression has been the least studied, and most of the past work on facial expression tried to recognize a small set of emotions, such as joy, disgust, and surprise. This practice may follow from

Eyebrows localization for expression analysis
2011 IEEE 7th International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing, 2011Automatic detection of human face features plays a significant role in expression recognition and human computer interaction. Human eyebrows shape has good specificity and stability, hence precise localization outlines a series of threads for face expression analysis. This paper will introduce a simple method for eyebrow localization.

Serial Analysis of Gene Expression
2003Serial analysis of gene expression (SAGEā¢) is a patented, large-scale mRNA-profiling technology that produces comprehensive, quantitative, and reproducible gene expression profiles (originally described in refs. 1 and 2). Unlike the alternative technologies of differential display and subtractive hybridization, SAGE produces a full catalog of all ...

Automatic analysis of facial expressions
Proceedings of the 2014 ACM/IEEE international conference on Human-robot interaction, 2014Facial behaviour is our preeminent means to communicating affective and social signals. This talk discusses a number of components of human facial behaviour, how they can be automatically sensed and analysed by computers, what is the past research in the field conducted by the iBUG group at Imperial College London, and how far we are from enabling ...

Emotional analysis of facial expressions
2004 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37583), 2005The purpose of this work is to develop an emotional analyzer that enables a cognitive agent to determine the emotional state of another cognitive agent through facial expressions. These expressions are presented to the analyzer using a facial expressions language.
