Suppression of glutathione transferase P expression by glucocorticoid
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1992A strong enhancer element, GPEI, of the glutathione transferase P gene (GST-P) gene is composed of two phorbol 12-O-tetradecanoate 13-acetate (TPA) responsive element (TRE)-like sequences at opposite orientation. Unlike TRE sequences of other genes, GPEI exhibits a strong enhancer activity in F9 cells, which contains little AP-1.

Suppression of GLTSCR2 expression in renal cell carcinomas
Pathology - Research and Practice, 2016Nucleolar protein PICT-1/GLTSCR2 (GLTSCR2) has both tumor suppressive and oncogenic activities, depending on the types of cancer tissue and its expression level. The role of GLTSCR2 in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has not yet been addressed. The aims of this study were to evaluate GLTSCR2 expression in RCC tissue and to determine pathological ...

Nucleotide Dimers Suppress HIV Expression In Vitro
AIDS Research and Human Retroviruses, 1988A series of nucleotide homo- and heterodimers [3′-azido-3′-deoxythymidilyl-(5′,5′)-2′,3′-dideoxy-5′adenylic acid (AZT-P-ddA), 3′-azido-3′-deoxythymidilyl-(5′,5′)-2′,3′-dideoxy;-5′-adenylic acid, 2-cyanoethyl ester [AZT-P(CyE)-ddA], 3′-azido-3′-deoxythymidilyl-(5′,5′)-2′,3′-dideoxy-5′-inosinic acid (AZT-P-ddI), and 3′-azido-3′-deoxythymidilyl-(5′,5′)-3′-

Suppression of Fe deficiency gene expression by jasmonate
Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, 2011Fe deficiency genes are regulated in response to external supply of Fe as well as internal plant signals. Internal plant signals include plant hormones and systemic signals which coordinate shoot physiological requirements for Fe with local availability of Fe in roots.

Malotilate, a Hepatoprotectant, Suppresses CYP2E1 Expression in Rats
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1994The expression of CYP2E1 was examined in hepatic tissue from rats treated with malotilate (MT), a hepatoprotectant. Microsomal p-nitrophenol hydroxylase activity in MT-treated rats was decreased to 66% and 47% of control activity at day 2 and 3 post-treatment.

The suppression of thymic stromal lymphopoietin expression by selenium
Amino Acids, 2011Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) is a key mediator of allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, and atopic dermatitis. Selenium (Se) has various effects such as antioxidant, antitumor, antiulcer, and anti-inflammatory effects. However, the effect of Se on the production of TSLP has not been clarified. Thus, we investigated how Se inhibits

Nicotine suppresses bone sialoprotein gene expression
Journal of Periodontal Research, 2009Background and Objective: Tobacco smoking is a risk factor for periodontitis and osteoporosis. Nicotine is a major component of tobacco, and has been reported to inhibit proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts. Bone sialoprotein (BSP) is a mineralized tissue‐specific protein expressed by differentiated osteoblasts that appears to function in ...

Immunoglobulin Gene Suppression and Expression
1979The proposition by Jerne (1) that network behaviour was the essential mechanism by which an immune system makes antibodies has led to experimental and theoretical attempts to prove this theory. The difficulty lies, not in proving a network which obviously exists, but in unravelling which features of the immune network play a significant role in the ...

Translational Suppression in Gene Expression in Retroviruses and Retrotransposons
1990The past 5 years have brought an exciting and very unexpected solution to a longstanding question in retrovirology: the mechanism of expression of the pol gene. Since the earliest studies of retroviral gene expression, the mechanism by which pol, the gene that encodes the critical enzymes reverse transcriptase, integrase, and sometimes protease, acts ...
