Tumor suppression and potentiation by manipulation of pp32 expression [PDF]

open access: yesOncogene, 2001
Alternative use of genes of the closely-related pp32 family is a common occurrence in human prostate cancer. pp32r1 and pp32r2, the oncogenic members of the pp32 family, are expressed in prostatic adenocarcinoma, while adjacent benign prostate continues to express pp32. This study focuses upon the role of pp32 in tumor suppression.

MicroRNA-33 suppresses CCL2 expression in chondrocytes [PDF]

open access: yesBioscience Reports, 2016
CCL2-mediated macrophage infiltration in articular tissues plays a pivotal role in the development of the osteoarthritis (OA). miRNAs regulate the onset and progression of diseases via controlling the expression of a series of genes. How the CCL2 gene was regulated by miRNAs was still not fully elucidated. In the present study, we demonstrated that the

Imatinib and spironolactone suppress hepcidin expression

open access: yesHaematologica, 2017
Disorders of iron metabolism are largely attributed to an excessive or insufficient expression of hepcidin, the master regulator of systemic iron homeostasis. Here, we investigated whether drugs targeting genetic regulators of hepcidin can affect iron homeostasis.

A conditional silencing suppression system for transient expression [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
AbstractRNA silencing is a powerful tool deployed by plants against viral infection and abnormal gene expression. Plant viruses have evolved a suite of silencing suppressors for counter-defense, which are also widely used to boost transcript and protein accumulation in transient assays.

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Parental attachment and depressive symptoms in Chinese adolescents: The mediation effect of emotion regulation

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Psychology, 2019
Objective We examined if the links between adolescents' parental attachment and depressive symptoms are mediated by emotion regulation (cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression), and identified which mediator has a stronger mediation effect ...

Translational Suppression in Retroviral GENE Expression

open access: yes, 1992
This chapter summarizes the present state of knowledge concerning translational suppression in retroviruses. Other viruses, using similar mechanisms, are mentioned only briefly and tangentially. Retroviruses are a unique class of viruses that have been found in all classes of vertebrates but not in other organisms.

Rab33A: Characterization, Expression, and Suppression by Epigenetic Modification [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 2006
Rab33A, a member of the small GTPase superfamily, is an X-linked gene that is expressed in brain, lymphocytes, and normal melanocytes, but is downregulated in melanoma cells. We demonstrate that in normal melanocytes Rab33A colocalizes with melanosomal proteins and that a constitutively active GTPase mutant suppresses their transport to the melanosomes.

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...
