New diagnostic microarray (Check-KPC ESBL) for detection and identification of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases in highly resistant Enterobacteriaceae.

open access: yes, 2011
The performance of a microarray for the detection of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases was determined on a collection of 638 highly resistant members of the family Enterobacteriaceae collected from patients in 18 hospitals in The ...

Multiparametric determination of genes and their point mutations for identification of beta-lactamases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
More than half of all currently used antibiotics belong to the beta-lactam group, but their clinical effectiveness is severely limited by antibiotic resistance of microorganisms that are the causative agents of infectious diseases. Several mechanisms for

Type IV‐Dominated Plasmid‐Encoded CRISPR‐Cas Systems Are Enriched in Multireplicon and Multi‐Stressor Resistance Plasmids Across the Global Plasmidome

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
Screening 72,555 plasmid sequences reveals that intact CRISPR‐Cas systems are rare (1.03%) but strongly enriched in multireplicon and multi‐stressor resistance plasmids, with Type IV‐A as the dominant subtype. These findings implicate plasmid‐encoded CRISPR‐Cas as non‐randomly retained elements of structurally complex and high‐risk backbones.

Extended spectrum beta-lactamases in nosocomial escherichia coli isolates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Hastane infeksiyonlarının önemli etkenlerinden Escherichia coli'de direnç problemi giderek artmaktadır. Geniş spektrumlu beta-laktamların yaygın kullanımı sonucu ortaya çıkan genişlemiş spektrumlu beta-laktamazların sıklığı ülkeler ve hastaneler arasında

Novel and emerging antimicrobial strategies in the management of oral infections

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Antibiotics marked a pivotal turning point in human civilization, enhancing social interactions and extending human life expectancy. In addition to their success in treating systemic infectious diseases, they have significantly improved periodontal treatment outcomes as an adjunct therapy.

Prevention and treatment of post‐endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography cholangitis: Current evidence and future directions

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 6, December 2026.
1. Prevention strategies should be stratified by preoperative cholangitis status. 2. For pre‐existing cholangitis, therapeutic antibiotics plus urgent drainage are essential; ENBD and stents show similar efficacy. 3. Early biliary drainage is the cornerstone of treatment; endoscopic drainage is preferred, with PTCD/EUS‐BD as second‐line. 4.

Antibiotic Resistance Profile of CTX-M-type Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamases in Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in Accra, Ghana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) are plasmid-mediated beta lactamases that are capable of hydrolysing beta-lactams except carbapenems and cephamycins. The most common ESBL types include CTX-M, TEM and SHV.

Klebsiella pneumoniae Epidural Abscess Presenting as Tubercular Spondylodiscitis: A Diagnostic Pitfall in a Diabetic Patient From Nepal

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2026.
MRI showing spinal epidural abscess initially suspected to be tuberculous spondylodiscitis. CT‐guided biopsy identified Klebsiella pneumoniae, highlighting the importance of tissue‐based diagnosis in guiding appropriate treatment. ABSTRACT Klebsiella pneumoniae spinal epidural abscess is rare and can mimic tuberculous spondylodiscitis in endemic ...

Zinc Oxide and Graphitic Carbon Nitride/ZnO Nanocomposites in Food Safety and Preservation: Synthesis, Antimicrobial Mechanisms, and Application Prospects

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2026.
ZnO and g‐C3N4/ZnO S‐scheme heterojunctions are synthesized via conventional, green, and biogenic routes. They combat foodborne pathogens and degrade mycotoxins through ROS generation, Zn2+ release, and membrane disruption, enabling antimicrobial packaging, photocatalytic decontamination, and nanobiosensing. However, migration, toxicity, and regulatory
