Pattern image enhancement by extended depth of field

Microelectronics Reliability, 2014
Abstract Most optical defect localization techniques such as dynamic laser stimulation or photon emission microscopy require a pattern image of the device to be taken. The main purpose is for device navigation, but it also enables the analyst to identify the location of the monitored activity by superimposing it onto the pattern image.

Greatly extended depth of field for microscopic imaging

Frontiers in Optics 2017, 2017
Based on wavefront-coding technique, a custom transmissive phase plate can extend the depth of field (DoF) of a microscope by more than 13 times with diffraction-limited resolution in comparison with the conventional microscope.

Extended depth of field using the logarithmic asphere

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
Transmission functions are derived for a novel logarithmic aspheric lens that provides an extended depth-of-field when used in an integrated digital processing system. Diffraction-theory equations valid in the non-paraxial case are presented together with a comparative study of two designs.

Optical microscopy with extended depth of field

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1983
A method is described that allows the depth of field in optical microscopy to be extended, in principle without limit, while high-resolution, diffraction-limited imaging is retained. Experimentally, an extension of more than two orders of magnitude has been achieved.

Tunable Optical Masks for extended Depth of Field

Frontiers in Optics 2015, 2015
We discuss the concept of a vortex-pair and its use for implementing phase masks and tunable apodizers, which extend the depth of field. We apply these devices for designing nonconventional systems, with zero Petzval sum.

Tunable optical arrays for extended depth of field

Frontiers in Optics 2011/Laser Science XXVII, 2011
We employ phase-space representations for designing arrays of optical phase-only elements, which can extend the depth of field in a tunable fashion.

Extended depth of field imaging at 94 GHz

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
We describe a computational imaging technique to extend the depth-of field of a 94-GHz imaging system. The technique uses a cubic phase element in the pupil plane of the system to render system operation relatively insensitive to object distance. However, the cubic phase element also introduces aberrations but, since these are fixed and known, we ...

Optimized annular phase masks to extend depth of field

Optics Letters, 2012
A radially symmetric phase mask composed of several annular zones with equal area (called APM) was designed based on the incoherent imaging theory from Fourier Optics. The phase of any ring equals minus of the phase function caused by certain defocus. Another circularly symmetric phase mask similar to the APM (called MQPM) was proposed, except for the ...

Multiple curved transducers providing extended depth of field

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1986
The invention is an apparatus useful in ultrasonic imaging to provide a highly focussed wave with a large depth of field. The apparatus comprises two or more coaxial, curved transducers, each producing adjacent, coaxial fields.
