Extended depth of field using shapelet-based image analysis

Applied Optics, 2008
One way to extend depth of field of any optical system is to take several images with different focus positions and combine them into a single composite image, which contains all regions fully focused. The challenge then becomes to select from each image the pixels that are in focus.

Computational superposition projector for extended depth of field and field of view

Optics Letters, 2013
This Letter describes a projection system with extended depth of field (DOF) and field of view (FOV). In the proposed system, an input image is projected with varying focusing distances and optical axis directions, and the projected images are superposed on a three-dimensional screen to realize a three-dimensionally space-invariant point spread ...

Remote control of extended depth of field focusing

Optics Communications, 2010
We propose a novel system allowing remote control of the location of the extended focal depth region. This system may find applications in situations where controllable optical access to an enclosure is needed and it is desirable to minimize the movement of the focusing lens.

Optical microscopy with extended depth of field

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1983
A method is described that allows the depth of field in optical microscopy to be extended, in principle without limit, while high-resolution, diffraction-limited imaging is retained. Experimentally, an extension of more than two orders of magnitude has been achieved.

Pattern image enhancement by extended depth of field

Microelectronics Reliability, 2014
Abstract Most optical defect localization techniques such as dynamic laser stimulation or photon emission microscopy require a pattern image of the device to be taken. The main purpose is for device navigation, but it also enables the analyst to identify the location of the monitored activity by superimposing it onto the pattern image.

Greatly extended depth of field for microscopic imaging

Frontiers in Optics 2017, 2017
Based on wavefront-coding technique, a custom transmissive phase plate can extend the depth of field (DoF) of a microscope by more than 13 times with diffraction-limited resolution in comparison with the conventional microscope.

Optimized annular phase masks to extend depth of field

Optics Letters, 2012
A radially symmetric phase mask composed of several annular zones with equal area (called APM) was designed based on the incoherent imaging theory from Fourier Optics. The phase of any ring equals minus of the phase function caused by certain defocus. Another circularly symmetric phase mask similar to the APM (called MQPM) was proposed, except for the ...
