Extended depth-of-focus by digital holographic microscopy
A recurrent problem in microscopy is the finite depth-of-focus linked to the NA of microscope objectives. Digital holographic microscopy (DHM) has the unique feature of being able to numerically change the focus from a single hologram without the need of moving the sample.

Evaluation of Focus Metrics in Extended Depth-of-field Reconstruction
The performance of focus metrics in the evaluation of refocused images from light fields is investigated in this paper. To this aim, the paper presents a comprehensive study on the performance of a large set of different focus metrics (34 in total) in the evaluation of patch-based extended depth-of-field reconstructed images (e.g., all-in-focus).

Extended depth-of-focus technology in intraocular lenses
Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, 2020The extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) intraocular lens (IOL) is an emerging technology that is designed to improve range of vision, especially at intermediate distances. In this review, we describe the clinical performance of 4 emerging EDOF IOL technologies; that is, small aperture, bioanalogic, diffractive optics, and nondiffractive optical ...

Through-Focus Response of Extended Depth of Focus Intraocular Lenses
Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2022PURPOSE: To investigate extended depth of focus intraocular lenses (EDOF IOLs), intended to extend the depth of field after cataract surgery in a comparative study at the optical bench. METHODS: An optical bench with either green or white light was used for this study.

Extended depth of focus intraocular lenses for presbyopia
Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2018To summarize the various extended depth of focus (EDOF) intraocular lenses currently available to patients and to describe visual outcomes and patient satisfaction.EDOF lenses are a relatively new option for presbyopic correction. Preliminary studies show high levels of spectacle independence and patient satisfaction.
