ProgModule: A novel computational framework to identify mutation driver modules for predicting cancer prognosis and immunotherapy response

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine
Background Cancer originates from dysregulated cell proliferation driven by driver gene mutations. Despite numerous algorithms developed to identify genomic mutational signatures, they often suffer from high computational complexity and limited clinical ...

Distributed Application Extensions and Obsolescence as Risk Generating Factors [PDF]

open access: yesInformatică economică, 2012
Extending distributed IT&C applications raises risks associated to integrating new modules in already existing functional areas, influencing performance and data relevancy.

Representation of Balancing Options for Variable Renewables in Long-Term Energy System Models: An Application to OSeMOSYS

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
The growing complexity and the many challenges related to fast-changing and highly de-carbonised electricity systems require reliable and robust open source energy modelling frameworks. Their reliability may be tested on a series of well-posed benchmarks

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

RATIONALLY INJECTIVE MODULES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this work we introduce the concept of rationally injective module, which is a proper generalization of (essentially)-injective modules. Several properties and characterizations have been given. In part of this work, we find sufficient conditions for a

Functional predictability of universal gene circuits in diverse microbial hosts

open access: yesQuantitative Biology
Although the principles of synthetic biology were initially established in model bacteria, microbial producers, extremophiles and gut microbes have now emerged as valuable prokaryotic chassis for biological engineering.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Generalized extending modules via exchange and clean properties

open access: yes, 2019
A module is called extending or CS provided that every submodule is essential in a direct summand. There have been investigations of several generalized extending conditions in the literature.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
