Stationary solutions for generalized Boussinesq models in exterior domains

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 1998
We establish the existence of a stationary weak solution of a generalized Boussinesq model for thermally driven convection in exterior domains. Namely, it is expected that the exterior domain can be approximated by interior domains.

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

ATZ‐1 promotes DNA replication efficiency to maintain normal meiotic function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Absence of ATZ‐1 interferes with meiotic DNA replication and cell cycle function via CHK‐1. This causes downstream defects associated with DNA damage and genomic integrity. Taken together, this study suggests that ATZ‐1 influences DNA replication efficiency and cell cycle function to maintain normal meiotic function.

Existence and nonexistence of solutions for sublinear problems with prescribed number of zeros on exterior domains

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2017
We prove existence of radial solutions of $\Delta u+K(r)f(u)=0$ on the exterior of the ball, of radius R, centered at the origin in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ such that $\lim_{r \to \infty} u(r)=0$ if R>0 is sufficiently small.

Equivalence of the Apollonian and Its Inner Metric

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2010
We show that the equivalence of the Apollonian metric and its inner metric remains unchanged by the removal of a point from the domain. For this we need to assume that the complement of the domain is not contained in a hyperplane.

Numerical mapping of exterior domains

open access: yesNumerische Mathematik, 1967
This paper describes an integral equation method for computing the conformal mapping of the exterior of a given simply-connected region onto the exterior of the unit circle. The method includes evaluation of the transfinite, diameter of the given region. Results are presented for a number of trial problems.

Optimizing photoexcitation conditions for time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering experiments

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering (TR‐XSS) is a powerful technique to visualize how proteins change their structure in real time after light activation. Selecting the right laser photoexcitation conditions—fluence, excitation geometry, and sample refresh rate—is critical to maximize the experimental signal while avoiding unwanted side effects ...

Finite and infinite element method applied to water wave diffraction problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
In this work, three types of infinite elements are developed to solve the problem of linear water wave diffraction by objects in a 2D unbounded domain. The infinite elements, which model the far field wave potential stretching to infinity, are coupled to
