External ballistic of volcanic explosions [PDF]

open access: possibleBulletin Volcanologique, 1983
In order to determine the kinetic energy of an explosion it is necessary to know the initial velocities of ejected fragments. Calculations of initial velocities made earlier with few exceptions did not take into account the resistance of the air and therefore, greatly underestimated the initial velocities, and consequently the energy of the explosions.

Uncertainty Analysis and Sensitivity Estimation on an Artillery External Ballistic System

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2022
Abstract In the design of artillery external ballistics, sensitivity analysis can effectively quantify the influence of multi-source uncertain parameters on the dispersion of projectile landing points to improve the precise attack ability of artillery.

Influence of Silencer Use on External Ballistics of Projectiles

30th International Symposium on Ballistics, 2017
The following article is a summary of the first step of research on behavior of sniper rifles in calibers .308 Winchester, .300 Winchester Magnum and .338 Lapua Magnum with and without sound suppressor. The paper includes measurements of chosen external ballistics parameters like velocity and accuracy at 300 m (328 yd) with the use of state of the art ...

A MODIFIED MODEL OF EXTERNAL BALLISTICS FOR SUPERSONIC MORTAR PROJECTILES

PROBLEMY TECHNIKI UZBROJENIA, 2018
Basic models applied for analysing and modelling the flight parameters of projectiles were disscussed in the article. A modified model with five degrees of freedom and neglection of the sixth one, representing the projectile rotation speed, is proposed by authors on the basis of conducted analysis to analyse flight parameters of a supersonic mortar ...

External Fixation for Ballistic Mandibular Trauma

Annals of Plastic Surgery
Background: Ballistic injuries to the mandible produce comminuted fractures with compromised vascularity and contaminated wound beds that challenge the assumptions of rigid internal fixation. External fixation, the earliest form of mandibular stabilization, preserves periosteal blood supply by avoiding open ...

Influence of External Factors on the Cutting Load and Puncture Force for Ballistic Fabrics

Fibre Chemistry, 2020
Effects of the moisture content, indenter speed and the number of layers of para-aramid fabrics on the puncture force and cutting load were studied. The relationship between the cutting load and the puncture force is determined.

Research on the simulation method of external Ballistic flight speed of fuze

2017 36th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2017
To solve the problem of getting different blowing speed of turbine motor after assembling turbine motor blower of fuze, do the analysis of free jet theory, and deduce the axis velocity formula on the basis of predecessor' research results. According to the theory of fluid mechanics, do the free jet simulation experiment of the round nozzle of constant ...

External Ballistics and Accuracy of Lead Free Bullets in 5.56x45mm NATO

30th International Symposium on Ballistics, 2017
Several nations have moved to lead free bullets in 5.56x45mm NATO for use as duty ammunition by military personnel. This study reports on the external ballistics and accuracy of two lead free bullet designs that have been fielded to date, the 62 grain lead free hard core bullet manufactured by RUAG and the 62 grain lead free bullet manufactured by ATK ...
