Impact of a regional simulation‐based training course in the implementation of external cephalic version: Intervention study

International journal of gynaecology and obstetrics: the official organ of the International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics
The aims of this study were to assess whether a regional simulation‐based training course in external cephalic version (ECV) would lead to the adoption of this technique in hospitals where it was not previously practiced, and to improve success rates in ...

Controlled trial of external cephalic version

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1985
Summary. A prospective randomized, controlled trial involving 640 singleton breech presentations after 30 weeks gestation was conducted to assess the value of external cephalic version. In 310 patients external cephalic version was attempted; the other 330 patients in whom version was not attempted constituted a control group.

External Cephalic Version

Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2020
In the United States, there is a widespread belief that the overall cesarean birth rate is higher than necessary. Efforts are being directed toward decreasing the number of these procedures, in part by encouraging physicians to make changes in their management practices.

Harefuah, 2003
Breech presentation is the most common of malpresentations, occurring in 3-4% of all term deliveries. The fetus may adopt breech presentation because of many factors. In the past, the mode of delivery (vaginal or abdominal) was determined by clinical considerations.

Cardiotocographic changes after external cephalic version

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1983
Summary. Cardiotocographic tracings before and after 53 attempts at external cephalic version (ECV) in 52 patients were analysed. Hexoprenaline (Ipradol) was used to facilitate ECV in 25 of the 53 attempts. There was a significant decrease in fetal movements and fetal heart rate (FHR) variability and reactivity after external cephalic version ...

Predicting success of external cephalic version

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1993
Many authors have identified prognostic factors for external cephalic version success, but there has not been an attempt to integrate these factors into a simple, quantitative scoring system for predicting version success. Nor have any prognostic factors been prospectively tested. We examined the clinical characteristics of 108 consecutive breech ...

External cephalic version without tocolysis

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1988
The increased rate of cesarean section in the United States is in part the result of more liberal use of the operation because of breech presentation. In an attempt to reduce the incidence of breech presentation in labor in a group of private patients, 66 patients underwent 90 attempted external cephalic versions in my office without tocolysis.
