The Optimal Design in External Gear Pumps and Motors
IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, 2011To improve the system performance of hydraulically assisted mechatronic systems, the research investigates the instantaneous pressure of the meshing action in the external gear pumps and motors. The undesired large pressure overshoots or spikes could be excited by virtue of the sudden volumetric change of meshing pockets.

Efficiency of External Gear Pump
Proceedings of Higher Educational Institutions. Маchine Building, 2021The purpose of the research was to analyze the load characteristics of external gear pumps. As the initial data, the results of factory tests of the NMSH and SH pumps, provided by HMS Livgidromash JSC, were used. The load characteristics of the gear pump NMSH32-10 were constructed, and the dependence of this pump efficiency on the dimensionless ...

A Design Procedure for Multistage External Gear Pumps
BATH/ASME 2020 Symposium on Fluid Power and Motion Control, 2020Abstract In this work, the authors present a robust and integrated procedure for the design of multi-stage gear pumps to be used in dry sump system applications. Based on the target delivery flow rate, rotational speed and fluid properties, the developed iterative method enables to directly obtain the geometrical features and the working

Analysis of External Gear Pump Failure
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Several typical failures of external gear pump are presented. The reasons of the pump failure are analyzed in detail. Solutions of the failure are proposed. In order to improve the efficiency of pumps maintenance and reparation, a new kind of tool is mentioned which could predict the life of gear pump before failure occurred.

Modeling Run in Process in External Gear Pumps
Volume 3: Dynamic Systems and Controls, Symposium on Design and Analysis of Advanced Structures, and Tribology, 2006In this work, the authors have developed a mathematical model that simulates the run in of external gear pumps, as an useful tool in the optimization of this time-consuming process. The model calculates the wear profile of the case by enveloping the tip circle of the gears concerning all the run in steps.

A Robust Design Optimization Methodology for External Gear Pumps
ASME 2010 10th Biennial Conference on Engineering Systems Design and Analysis, Volume 4, 2010This work addresses the topic of external gear pumps for automotive applications, which operate at high speed and low pressure. In previous works of the authors, a hybrid lumped-parameter/finite-element model has been developed, in order to foresee the pump dynamic behaviour in terms of gear and casing acceleration.

Wear in external gear pumps: A simplified model
Wear, 1994Abstract Wear in external gear pumps, as used in hydraulic systems, is not uniformly distributed over the sliding surfaces. It is confirmed that wear occurs at regions of close clearance. Flow between these surfaces is complex, and existing fundamental wear models are not satisfactory.

CFD Model of an External Gear Pump
2017The paper presents a CFD model of an external gear pump. To investigate the fluid flow phenomena that occur in external gear pumps, one of the commercial CFD software packages was selected. The immersed solid method was used to simulate the flows induced by the rotation of gears.
