Self and External Monitoring of Weight

Psychological Reports, 1978
Subjects were 23 obese men and women who received a behavioral weight control program and were randomly assigned to one of two experimental conditions: (1) subjects were weighed at the beginning of each treatment session and were encouraged to weigh themselves at home for “continuous feedback” or (2) subjects were not weighed at group meetings and were

Distinguishing population processes by external monitoring

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2003
From the paper: Construction of models is the most basic activity in science, lying at the heart of understanding, prediction and practical applications. Uncovering the dominant mechanisms governing the deterministic evolution of nonlinear dynamical systems is an essential component of this activity. These systems are known to exhibit a wide variety of

External Quality Assurance for Heparin Monitoring

Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, 2012
Although there is considerable debate regarding the usefulness of laboratory heparin monitoring, these test processes reflect a substantial portion of hemostasis laboratory activity. Accordingly, external quality assurance (EQA) remains an essential component of such testing, and ensures that laboratories provide the best available service for patient ...

External monitoring of endpoint configuration compliance

Proceedings of the 5th Annual Workshop on Cyber Security and Information Intelligence Research: Cyber Security and Information Intelligence Challenges and Strategies, 2009
We describe a system for externally monitoring endpoint configuration compliance of an end user system that provides a high assurance monitoring function and data. Typical approaches to monitoring for endpoint configuration compliance rely on the integrity of the endpoint's operating system and do not protect the monitoring function from subversion or ...

A new quantitative external monitoring technique

The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1966
Abstract A new external monitoring technique is described for measuring the amount of radioactivity within an internal organ. The variable distance between the detector and target organ or area is calculated trigonometrically by using two matched probes which are adjusted to register the same maximal level of activity coming from the source.
