Relative Efficiency of External Prestressing

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1995
In this paper, the efficiency of tendon profiles is examined for the internal and external prestressing of statically indeterminate structures. The statically indeterminate component of the total prestressing moment is shown to be significant for both parabolic and linear tendon profiles.

Strengthening by Means of External Prestressing

Journal of Bridge Engineering, 1999
This paper deals with the behavior of reinforced concrete, partially prestressed concrete, and prestressed concrete beams, subjected to cyclic loading and then strengthened by means of external prestressing. The comparison between the experimental tests and the numerical analyses shows that the load-carrying capacity of the rehabilitated structure is ...

Design of Precast Prestressed Concrete Members Using External Prestressing

PCI Journal, 2002
This paper identifies some of the parameters and design considerations for using external prestressing in prestressed concrete flexural members. The behavior and design of these members are differentiated from those prestressed with internal bonded tendons.

A numerical model for externally prestressed beams

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 1996
A method to numerically evaluate the behaviour of single span beams, prestressed with external tendons and symmetrically loaded is presented. This algorithm, based on the Finite Difference Method, includes second order effects and large displacements in an attempt to more fully understand the behaviour of the beam up to collapse.

Analysis of Prestressing Loss on Construction of External Prestressed Wooden Buildings

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Wooden buildings which has a long history, is one of the earliest forms of building structures by mankind. The structure form and construction method of are different from the common prestressed structure, therefore, the prestressing loss caused by the external prestressed structures is different from that of the common prestressed structure. It is an ...
