An experimental study of external reactor vessel cooling strategy on the critical heat flux using the graphene oxide nanofluid

open access: yes, 2012
External reactor vessel cooling (ERVC) for in-vessel retention (IVR) of corium as a key severe accident management strategy can be achieved by flooding the reactor cavity during a severe accident.

Experimental methods in chemical engineering: Magnetometry

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 10, Page 5176-5188, October 2026.
Abstract Magnetometry is a non‐invasive technique to characterize the behaviour of magnetic materials of which the most common contain Fe, Co, and Ni. Vibrating sample magnetometers (VSMs) vibrate samples at a fixed frequency in a static, homogeneous magnetic field to induce a voltage in pick up coils according to Faraday's law of induction.

Microwave‐Assisted Subcritical Water Extraction Method for the Optimized Isolation of Cellulose From Residual Soybean Hulls

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 17, 14 September 2026.
Almost pure cellulose was extracted from soybean hulls by microwave‐assisted alkaline treatment (MW‐NaOH) and characterized. The microwave‐assisted subcritical water extraction (MASWE) of waste biomass falls within the circular economy approach, promotes sustainability, and reduces both treatment times and the use of harsh chemicals.

Simulation of the influence of hydrophones used for the characterization of pressure field distribution in low frequency, high power ultrasonic reactor vessels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper describes the use of a finite element (FE) modeling approach to investigate the influence of different hydrophone designs in laboratory scale reactor vessels.

Validation of the RVACS (Reactor Vessel Auxiliary Cooling System)/RACS (Reactor Air Cooling System) model in SASSYS-1

open access: yes, 1987
The SASSYS-1 LMR systems analysis code contains a model for transient analysis of heat removal by a RVACS (Reactor Vessel Auxiliary Cooling System) or a RACS (Reactor Air Cooling System) in an LMR (Liquid Metal Reactor).

Improvement of summer comfort by passive cooling with increased ventilation and night cooling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The study describes the potential improvement of summer comfort and reduction of energy consumption that can be achieved by adopting passive cooling solutions, such as daytime comfort ventilation with increased air velocities and night cooling, in ...
