Receiver benefits and strategic use of call externalities in mobile telephony markets

Information Economics and Policy, 2018
Abstract Recent models of network competition demonstrate the incentives for incumbent firms to reduce receiver benefits in an entrant's network through excessive off-net pricing. Theoretical reasoning behind the role of call externalities in limiting the market share of smaller networks assumes that receiving a call contributes to consumer utility ...

Super-regenerative laser receiver: Transient dynamics of a laser with an external signal

Physical Review A, 1989
In super-regenerative detection, a weak external signal is amplified in an oscillator that is periodically switched on and then quenched. It is shown that very weak optical signals, slightly above the noise level, can be detected effectively by a laser used as a super-regenerative receiver.

Preliminary Results on the Performance of the Sulzer Cavity Receiver and the Franco-Tosi External Receiver

1985
This paper presents the preliminary results of evaluation work performed on the cavity receiver (Sulzer) and the external receiver (ASR) installed at the IEA/SSPS Project.

RATED MW FROM A HELIOSTAT FIELD ON CYLINDRICAL EXTERNAL RECEIVER

International Journal of Solar Energy, 1995
Some of the reflected beam radiation from a heliostat field bypasses the receiver surface. The spillage factor which is a measure of how much of reflected beam radiation actually intercepted by the receiver surface, is calculated and plotted for easy access.

Controlling external factors affecting accounts receivable.

Patient accounts, 1991
External factors such as complex billing arrangements, decreasing healthcare benefits, and increasing numbers of uninsured workers contribute to a hospital's outstanding accounts receivable. Instituting measures for getting payment in full and as soon as possible can help control for outside influences and reduce outstanding receivables.

Externalities in Sender-Receiver Stopping Games with Multiple Senders

We consider a dynamic model of sender-receiver stopping games with multiple senders and only one receiver. The state of the world follows an iid--process throughout the game. At each period, each sender observes the current state and sends a message to the receiver, suggesting either to stop or to continue.
