Quantitative Assessment for Commutation Security Based on Extinction Angle Trajectory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2021
In order to reduce the risk of commutation failure (CF) in the AC/DC hybrid power system, the quantitative analysis on CF is required for on-line assessment and optimal control.

Critical Angle Refractometry for Lossy Media with a Priori Known Extinction Coefficient [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics, 2021
Critical angle refractometry is an established technique for determining the refractive index of liquids and solids. For transparent samples, the critical angle refractometry precision is limited by incidence angle resolution.

Improved predictive calculation-based extinction angle control for HVDC

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems, 2021
Abstract In HVDC projects, the predictive calculation-based extinction angle control (PC-EAC) generates the firing angle order by means of open loop. Under the steady-state condition, the result of its calculation is accurate. However, when a fault occurs in AC system, a serious calculation error will exist, which increases the risk of commutation ...

A novel laboratory methodology to evaluate the particle extinction-to-backscatter ratio or particle lidar ratio of aerosols [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
While atmospheric particles are ubiquitous in nature and contribute to the Earth’s radiative budget, their backscattering and extinction remain insufficiently quantified due to their complexity in size, shape and chemical composition.

Wide-angle near infrared polarizer with extremely high extinction ratio

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
An infrared polarizer is designed with a predicted extremely high extinction ratio exceeding 3 × 10(16) and transmittance higher than 89% for one polarization in the wavelength region from 1.6 to 2.3 µm. Moreover, the performance does not start to deteriorate until 60° tilting angle.

A Nonlinear Dynamic Current Deviation Control Method for Suppressing Continuous Commutation Failures in UHVDC Systems

open access: yesZhongguo dianli, 2021
Aiming at the continuous commutation failures in LCC-HVDC systems, a nonlinear dynamic current deviation control method is proposed. The operation curve of current deviation controller is dynamically adjusted according to the severity of AC faults ...

Commutation Failure Predictive Control Based on Fast AC Voltage Measurement in LCC-HVDC

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
To inhibit commutation failure (CF), in this paper, the influence factors of CF were analyzed, and considering different fault types and different valves, the mathematical expression of extinction angle was deduced.

Commutation Failure Mitigation Method Based on Imaginary Commutation Process

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2022
The commutation failure (CF) mitigation effectiveness is normally restricted by the delay of extinction angle (EA) measurement or the errors of existing prediction methods for EA or firing angle (FA). For this purpose, this paper proposes a CF mitigation
