Dust extinction and X-ray emission from the star burst galaxy NGC 1482

open access: yes, 2012
We present the results based on multiwavelength imaging observations of the prominent dust lane starburst galaxy NGC 1482 aimed to investigate the extinction properties of dust existing in the extreme environment.

Enhanced flux of extraterrestrial 3He across the Permian–Triassic boundary

open access: yesProgress in Earth and Planetary Science, 2019
The ca 252 Ma Permian–Triassic boundary (PTB) represents the most severe mass extinction event of the Phanerozoic, with the disappearance of ~ 80% of marine invertebrate species.

Novel 3D‐Printed Biophotonic Scaffold Displaying Luminescence under Near‐Infrared Light for Photopharmacological Activation and Biological Signaling Compound Release

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Despite significant efforts in developing novel biomaterials to regenerate tissue, only a few of them have successfully reached clinical use. It has become clear that the next generation of biomaterials must be multifunctional. Smart biomaterials can respond to environmental or external stimuli, interact in a spatial‐temporal manner, and trigger ...

Multivalent Protein Nanorings for Broad and Potent SARS‐CoV‐2 Neutralization

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A protein‐only, modular multivalent nanoscaffold displaying 20 anchor points, decorated with two different binders (10 of each), targeting the SARS‐CoV‐2 receptor‐binding domain is presented. The construct self‐assembles into stable, biocompatible, homogeneous nanoparticles, exhibit synergistic binding with fM IC50 values. It also detects spike at 9 ng

Periodic cometary showers: Real or imaginary? [PDF]

open access: yes
Since the initial reports in 1980, a considerable body of chemical and physical evidence has been accumulated to indicate that a major impact event occurred on earth 65 million years ago.

Body-size evolution in gastropods across the Plio-Pleistocene extinction in the western Atlantic.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
The Plio-Pleistocene turnover event in the western Atlantic following the closure of the Central American Seaway involved high rates of extinction for both gastropod and bivalve molluscs.
