Autoimmune Encephalitis in Acute Care—Pathology, Diagnosis, and Management
ABSTRACT Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) is characterized by immune‐mediated inflammation of the brain parenchyma, presenting with various neurological syndromes, including but not limited to seizures, altered consciousness, neuropsychiatric symptoms, and movement disorders.

Multimodal Imaging Reveals Rapid Catecholamine Uptake and Release by Neutrophils
We show that immune cells (neutrophils) synthesize, uptake, and store catecholamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine or adrenaline. They also release them in response to specific stimuli (serotonin), which we directly visualize using fluorescent nanosensors. We further demonstrate that catecholamines affect neutrophil functions (NETosis) and platelet

Exploring the potential effect of COVID-19 on an endangered great ape
The current COVID-19 pandemic has created unmeasurable damages to society at a global level, from the irreplaceable loss of life, to the massive economic losses. In addition, the disease threatens further biodiversity loss. Due to their shared physiology

Threshold Dynamics and the Density Function of the Stochastic Coronavirus Epidemic Model
Since November 2019, each country in the world has been affected by COVID-19, which has claimed more than four million lives. As an infectious disease, COVID-19 has a stronger transmission power and faster propagation speed.

An experimental test on the probability of extinction of new genetic variants [PDF]
In 1927, J.B.S. Haldane reasoned that the probability of fixation of new beneficial alleles is twice their fitness effect. This result, later generalized by M. Kimura, has since become the cornerstone of modern population genetics. There is no experimental test of Haldane's insight that new beneficial alleles are lost with high probability.

Probability density of extinction prehistory and the optimal path to extinction for Model 2.
The red point denotes the endemic state. A simulation starts with the population at the endemic state and stops when the number of infected individuals is zero.

Biolipid Film‐Fused Electrochemiluminescence for Multipurpose In Situ Bioassays
An ECL‐emissive, membrane‐interactive scaffold was fabricated, and facilely fused with natural and non‐native phospholipids into multifactorial mimicries of cytomembranes and vesicles for in vitro representative membrane‐process probing. Such a biointerface‐based, state‐sensitive ECL paradigm not only pinpointed proximal phenomena, including channeling

Within the same molecular length scale, antiaromatic s‐indacene exhibits a marked increase in conductance compared to its aromatic benzodithiophene counterpart. Notably, the inherently small HOMO–LUMO gap of antiaromatic systems maintains a certain level of conductance even in the presence of cross‐conjugation.

Confidence intervals for extinction risk: Validating population viability analysis with limited data
The assessment of extinction risk remains a key component of IUCN and CITES evaluations. However, it has been argued that, under realistic data limitations, confidence intervals (CIs) for extinction probability often span the entire 0–1 range, rendering ...
