Extra dimensions!

Early Years Educator, 2006
Jessica Waterhouse and Ailsa Chapman (above) provide more of their fantastic handy hints. Got a hint you would like to share? We would love to hear it.

INFLATION IN EXTRA DIMENSIONS

International Journal of Modern Physics A, 2002
We discuss inflation in the Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali scenario for extra dimensions. Basically we compare brane and bulk inflation. We restrict our discussion to chaotic and hybrid inflation models.

THERMODYNAMICS AND EXTRA DIMENSIONS

Modern Physics Letters B, 2009
We consider the effects of extra dimensions on the thermodynamics of classical ideal gases, Bose–Einstein gases and Fermi–Dirac gas. Assuming a q-dimensional torus for the extra dimensions, we compute the thermodynamic functions such as the equation of state, the average energy and the specific heat at constant volume for the three systems.

SUFFICIENT EXTRA DIMENSIONS

International Journal of Modern Physics A, 2001
Matrix algebra notation in introduced which extends Dirac abstract vector notation to explicitly describe standard hadrons, leptons and a specific type of 1-brane. The 3×3×3 matrix notation is easily used with the path integral approach to model both strong and weak interactions. The specific 1-brane, called a tripartite string (a type of orientifold),

Singular Instantons and Extra Dimensions

International Journal of Theoretical Physics, 1999
Assuming that the universe is homogeneous, isotropic, and \(\Omega\sim 1\), \textit{S. W. Hawking} and \textit{N. Turok} [Phys. Lett. B 425, 25-32 (1998); Phys. Lett. B 432, 271-278 (1998)], have recently suggested that an open universe can be created from nothing using instanton processes without the need of a false vacuum phase.
