Utilization of residual reserves of coal strata outcrops by open-pit mining with a subsequent disposal of industrial waste [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 1998
In the paper the author deals with the possibilities of open-pit mining of residual reserves of coal seam outcrops. Following the coal extraction, certified regional industrial waste can be disposed in the mined-out area, thus reducing the environmental ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Interaction of a protecting wall with a soil massif in process extractions of foundation pit

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Engineering Research, 2013
The computing procedure to determine the soil pressure on retaining structure and it’s displacements during earth excavation from a pit is developed. At the first stage the protecting construction (slurry wall, sheet piling, row of piles) is enclosed in a ground from the both sides, then the earth excavation from one side of the screen begins.

Tailored Hierarchical Porous Copper Architectures via Three Dimensional Printing and Pressure‐less Sintering for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.

Slope parameters check method for open-pit mine based on automatic modeling of UAV whole process

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan
Slope stability of open-pit mine is very important to mine safety. Accurate identification of slope parameters is the core link to ensure mine safety. Traditional slope parameter acquisition methods have limitations such as low efficiency, single data ...

Power earth auger modification for waste extraction from pit latrines

open access: yesJournal of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Development, 2013
The extraction auger was developed to meet the need for a low cost, effective method to empty pit latrines in difficult to access locations. The basic design consists of a motor that rotates an auger inside a pipe, lifting waste from a pit and depositing it into containers through a wye fitting at the top of the device.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated
