An Anti‐Amyloidogenic Approach to Specifically Block Memory Consolidation in Mice for Therapeutic Intervention

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Functional amyloid conversion of the translation regulator CPEB3 is essential for long‐term memory persistence. This study demonstrates that targeting this molecular switch with the anti‐amyloidogenic peptide QBP1 selectively blocks CPEB3 fibrillation without disrupting phase separation.

Extractive fermentation of L-lactic acid with immobilized Rhizopus oryzae in a three-phase fluidized bed

open access: yes, 2007
A three-phase fluidized bed bioreactor was designed to perform the extractive fermentation of L-(+)-lactic acid by Rhizopus oryzae immobilized in calcium alginate beads.

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...

Elevated butanol and acetone bio-production with integrated co-extraction in lime-buffered fermentation using high cell concentration

open access: yesCase Studies in Chemical and Environmental Engineering
Butanol and acetone bioproduction face inhibition from excessive substrates, leading to acid crashes. Buffering stabilizes acidity and aids product formation, whereas simultaneous extraction prolongs cell productivity. This study aimed to enhance butanol

Extractive fermentation of clavulanic acid by Streptomyces DAUFPE 3060 using aqueous two-phase system

open access: yes, 2011
The influence of four variables, specifically polyethylene glycol (PEG) molar mass (400, 1,000, and 8,000 g/mol), concentrations of PEG and phosphate salts (15, 20, and 25% for both), and agitation intensity (110, 150, and 200 rpm), on clavulanic acid ...

Innate Immunocompetent hiPSC‐Derived Neurospheroids Capture Early CNS Responses to rAAV

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Knowledge of human CNS immune responses to AAV‐based gene therapies remains limited due to the lack of immune‐competent human models. Here, a hiPSC‐derived 3D neuroimmune platform integrating neurospheroids and microglia is established using stirred‐tank bioreactors.

Non-linear predictive control of an extractive alcoholic fermentation process

open access: yes, 2015
In this work a SISO non-linear predictive controller was developed for an extractive alcoholic fermentation process. The internal model of the controller was represented by a functional link network (FLN).

Targeted Restoration of the Microbial Tryptophan Oxidative Pathway Ameliorates Autism‐Like Behavioral and Synaptic Deficits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is associated with gut microbiota dysbiosis, yet the contribution of specific microbial metabolic pathways remains unclear. Reanalysis of a public ASD cohort revealed reduced functional potential in microbial tryptophan oxidative metabolism.
