Clinical and therapeutic aspects of extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma
Extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma (EPSCC) is usually treated similarly to small cell lung cancer. Differences in aetiology, clinical course, frequency of brain metastases, and survival, however, warrant a differential therapeutic approach. In this review, we focus on the treatment of the most predominant sites of origin of EPSCC; the gastrointestinal

Extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma
Cancer, 1997Extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma (EPSCCA) is often an underrecognized clinicopathologic entity, distinct from small cell lung carcinoma. The purpose of this study was to review the study institution's experience with EPSCCA with specific emphasis on the epidemiology and response to treatment of these uncommon neoplasms.Using the tumor registry ...

EXTRAPULMONARY SMALL CELL CARCINOMA FOLLOWING AUGMENTATION ENTEROCYSTOPLASTY
Tumours developing after urinary tract or bladder reconstruction with intestinal tissue have well been described. Adenocarcinomas and transitional cell carcinomas are the most frequent histological features. We report here a case of small cell carcinoma developing after augmentation enterocystoplasty.

Extrapulmonary Small Cell Carcinoma: A Pictorial Review
American Journal of Roentgenology, 2011Extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma (EPSCC) is a rare, aggressive neoplasm arising from virtually any organ. Numerous oncologic studies have addressed prognostic indicators and survival rates in EPSCC, however relatively little has been published regarding the imaging features and metastatic patterns of these uncommon tumors.

Extrapulmonary small-cell carcinoma of the liver
Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, 2004A 53-year-old man was admitted to our hospital for the evaluation of a mass (13 x 10 cm) in the left lobe of the liver seen by imaging studies. On subsequent biopsy of the mass, the lesion was histologically diagnosed as malignant small round-cell tumor, consistent with metastatic small-cell carcinoma. Segment IV segmentectomy was performed.

The Pathology of Extrapulmonary Small Cell Carcinoma
Seminars in Oncology, 2007Extrapulmonary small cell carcinomas (EPSCCs) are uncommon malignant neoplasms with a reported incidence of 0.1% to 0.4% in the United States. Since their first description in 1930, they have been seen in nearly every organ system. Like their more common pulmonary counterparts, EPSCCs are thought to arise from a multipotential stem cell. However, there

Imaging features of extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma
Clinical Radiology, 2013Small cell carcinoma accounts for approximately 20% of lung cancers; however, it rarely occurs at other sites. Extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma (EPSCC) is notoriously aggressive with a strong propensity for both regional and distant spread. The majority of the literature on these uncommon tumours is from a clinicopathological viewpoint with a ...

Extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma in breast and prostate
Clinical and Translational Oncology, 2009Extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma in breast and prostate are uncommon neoplasms. In the literature most of the data come from case reports and these show that these tumours are highly aggressive. Histologically, they bear striking similarities to small cell carcinomas of the lung and usually show evidence of additional histologies.
