Modular curves and Mordell-Weil torsion in F-theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
In this work we prove a bound for the torsion in Mordell-Weil groups of smooth elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau 3- and 4-folds. In particular, we show that the set of torsion groups which can occur on a smooth elliptic Calabi-Yau n-fold is contained in ...

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Freiman's theorem in finite fields via extremal set theory

open access: yes, 2007
Using various results from extremal set theory (interpreted in the language of additive combinatorics), we prove an asyptotically sharp version of Freiman's theorem in F_2^n: if A in F_2^n is a set for which |A + A|

Evaluation of Digital Technologies for Home‐Based Assessment in People With Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Digital technologies hold promise for transforming healthcare by enhancing personalized treatments and offer valuable opportunities to improve patient care. Here, we evaluated several novel, self‐administered, home‐based, digital endpoints for their association with corresponding conventional standard clinical measures (primary) in ...

Plasma EV Proteomics Identifies ECM Remodeling and Inflammatory Proteins LUM and C7 as Candidate Biomarkers in FSHD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is one of the most debilitating and common muscular dystrophies. Despite its severity, no approved therapy exists for FSHD patients. However, several therapeutic candidates are currently under development, and some have recently entered clinical trials, marking the need for reliable ...

Classification of extremal black holes [PDF]

open access: yes
In this thesis we consider the classification problem for extremal black holes. First, we provide a classification for asymptotically flat or asymptotically Kaluza-Klein supersymmetric black holes in five-dimensional minimal supergravity with a single ...

Time-dependent microstrata in AdS3

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We use perturbation theory to construct a family of time-dependent microstrata: a set of non-extremal solutions of IIB supergravity asymptotic to AdS3 × S 3 × T 4.

Complexity of compatible measurements

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
Measurement incompatibility is one of the basic aspects of quantum theory. Here we study the structure of the set of compatible, i.e., jointly measurable, measurements.

Electroencephalographic Normalization as a Biomarker of Clinical Recovery in Down Syndrome Regression Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Down syndrome regression disorder is a syndrome characterized by subacute loss of cognitive, behavioral, and functional abilities in individuals with Down syndrome. Electroencephalography abnormalities are frequently observed during evaluation, but it remains unclear whether these findings represent a dynamic marker of disease ...

Association Between Symptomatic Knee Osteoarthritis and Target Glycemic Control in Individuals With Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Knee osteoarthritis (OA) commonly affects individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and is associated with increased risk of diabetes‐related complications. To better understand potential mechanisms, we examined the association between symptomatic knee OA and glycemic control in individuals with T2DM.
