Geometric and dosimetric evaluation of a commercial AI auto‐contouring tool on multiple anatomical sites in CT scans

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Current radiotherapy practices rely on manual contouring of CT scans, which is time‐consuming, prone to variability, and requires highly trained experts. There is a need for more efficient and consistent contouring methods. This study evaluated the performance of the Varian Ethos AI auto‐contouring tool to assess its potential integration into

Semi‐automated hippocampal avoidance whole‐brain radiotherapy planning

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Hippocampal avoidance whole‐brain radiotherapy (HA‐WBRT) is designed to spare cognitive function by reducing radiation dose to the hippocampus during the treatment of brain metastases. Current manual planning methods can be time‐consuming and may vary in quality, necessitating the development of automated approaches to streamline ...

Evaluation of the system accuracy of frameless stereotactic radiosurgery using a combination of cone beam CT, six degrees of freedom couch, and surface image‐guided systems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of the frameless linear accelerator‐based stereotactic radiosurgery (FSRS) system incorporating cone‐beam CT (CBCT), six degrees of freedom (6‐DoF) couch, room laser, and surface image‐guided (SG) systems.

Simulation for Evolution of the Australian Netting Spider PM Eye [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
This paper reports on a simulated evolution project, which had the goal of simulating the refractive components of the PM eye of Australian netting spider diopis subrufus on a desktop computer. The model for the simulation is the anatomy of the eye described by Blest and Land [Ble & Lan 1977].

A Python package for fast GPU‐based proton pencil beam dose calculation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Open‐source GPU‐based Monte Carlo (MC) proton dose calculation algorithms provide high speed and unparalleled accuracy but can be complex to integrate with new applications and remain slower than GPU‐based pencil beam (PB) methods, which sacrifice some physical accuracy for sub‐second plan calculation.

Eye Pupil Location Using Webcam [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Three different algorithms used for eye pupil location were described and tested. Algorithm efficiency comparison was based on human faces images taken from the BioID database. Moreover all the eye localisation methods were implemented in a dedicated application supporting eye movement based computer control.

Improving dose delivery in non‐coplanar cranial SRS: Stereoscopic x‐ray‐guided mitigation of table walkout errors

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Purpose Linear accelerator (LINAC)‐based single‐isocenter multi‐target (SIMT) treatment has streamlined the cranial stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) workflow. Though efficient, SIMT delivery adds additional challenges that should be considered, including increased sensitivity to rotational errors for off‐isocenter targets.
