RETINAL ADHESIVENESS IN SURGICALLY ENUCLEATED HUMAN EYES
Retina, 1994Retinal adhesion in rabbits and monkeys has been shown to involve the interphotoreceptor matrix and depend on environmental factors, such as temperature, pH, and calcium concentration. This study was designed to see whether these same factors modulate retinal adhesiveness in humans.Four surgically enucleated human eyes were studied.

To provide insight into the relationship between cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression and histopathologic features of retinoblastoma specimens treated either by primary or secondary enucleation.Laboratory investigation.Twenty-five retinoblastoma specimens received between 1994 and 2003 were retrieved for this study from the Ocular Pathology Registry ...

Better Transillumination of Enucleated Eyes With an Egg Candler
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1972An egg candler with a powerful prefocused light has been found to work well for transillumination of eyes following enucleation. Transillumination is recommended as a routine step in the pathological study of all enucleated eyes to recognize and localize ocular tumors and foreign bodies as well as many other types of eye disease.

Aqueous humor dynamics in the enucleated deer eye
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Physiology, 1984Facility of outflow of aqueous humor was determined in ten deer (Odocoileus virginianus) eyes enucleated within 1 hr post-mortem. Although both outflow facility and anterior chamber volume were much greater than values reported in the literature for a variety of other species, calculated values for aqueous humor turnover were within the reported range ...

THE SOCKET AFTER ENUCLEATION AND THE ARTIFICIAL EYE
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1944HISTORICAL REVIEW Simple enucleation is not the most ancient surgical means of ridding the orbit of the eye. On the contrary, other surgical procedures were adopted until one hundred years ago. In the earlier period an operation that peeled the eye from its capsule was considered brutal as compared with procedures in which the eye was cut open rapidly

Experimental Aqueous Perfusion in Enucleated Human Eyes
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1963Aqueous perfusion is a convenient and direct means for quantitative evaluation of facility of aqueous outflow (C) in enucleated eyes. The C value is obtained by simple calculation from the rate of injection (F) of saline solution and from the steady state pressure (P) induced in the eye.
