Orbital and Eyelid Manifestations of Xanthogranulomatous Diseases

Orbit, 2006
Erdheim-Chester disease, adult periocular xanthogranuloma, juvenile xanthogranuloma, and necrobiotic xanthogranuloma are presumed to be separate disease entities, but they are often confused clinically because of their similar presentations and histopathology.

Diseases of the Eyelids and Orbit

Medical Clinics of North America, 2021
The eyelids and orbit encompass intricate bony and soft tissue structures that work harmoniously in concert to protect, support, and nourish the eye in order to facilitate and maintain its function. Insult to periorbital and orbital anatomy can compromise orbital and ocular homeostasis.

Eyelid Lag Without Eyelid Retraction in Pretectal Disease

Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology, 1996
We report a patient with pretectal eyelid lag without retraction. MRI showed high signal abnormality dorsal to the right red nucleus in a region thought responsible for premotor eyelid control. The dissociation of eyelid lag from eyelid retraction in this patient would suggest that these lid signs may have separate neural mechanisms or pathways.

Amyloid Disease of the Eyelid and Conjunctiva

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1962
Amyloid tumors localized to the conjunctiva and eyelids are not a common finding. There are relatively few reports in the English literature.
