In this study, we developed giant plasma membrane vesicles (GPMVs) from Leishmania amazonensis promastigote membranes to investigate the role of protein‐embedded membranes in methylene blue (MB) photooxidation. Upon MB photoactivation in model lipid membranes (giant unilamellar vesicles, GUVs), a distinct photooxidation effect was observed, marked by ...

The effect of chalcogen substitution on the structure and spectroscopy of 4,7-dimethyl-2: H -chromen-2-one/thione analogues [PDF]
4,7-Dimethyl-2H-chromen-2-one (1) and its novel sulfur analogue 4,7-dimethyl-2H-chromen-2-thione (2) were synthesized and fully characterized by spectroscopic methods and mass spectrometry. The crystal structure of compound 2 has been determined by X-ray

PLA and strontium‐substituted hydroxyapatite filaments were used in 3D printing to fabricate a trabecular‐inspired scaffold. The scaffold was functionalized with a polydopamine coating. Characterization revealed enhanced surface properties and mechanical performance, supporting its potential application in bone tissue engineering.

Persistence of atoms in molecules: there is room beyond electron densities
Evidence that the electronic structure of atoms persists in molecules to a much greater extent than has been usually admitted is presented. This is achieved by resorting to N-electron real-space descriptors instead of one- or at most two-particle ...

The combination of a rigid monomer (IBOA) and a flexible monomer (2‐EHA) via free‐radical copolymerization yields amorphous poly(IBOA‐co‐2‐EHA) with a wide range of tunable mechanical properties. The image depicts how increasing the IBOA content shifts the material's behavior from that of an elastic elastomer (PEHA) to a rigid, brittle plastic (PIBOA),

Layered double hydroxides-indomethacin nanohybrids: intercalation, pH influence, stability and release properties [PDF]
In this work, three pH values (8, 9 and 10) were studied for the insertion of Indomethacin (Indo) molecules into Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs). The obtained results showed that the LDH materials have been a good storage for the drug.

Specialization: A multidimensional and integrative perspective
Specialization remains as a controversial and ambiguous term in ecology. Although it has been usually measured using a dichotomic and simplified classification of specialists and generalists, its nature is by far more complex.

Fluorescent Carbon Dots with Red Emission: A Selective Sensor for Fe(III) Ion Detection
We present a procedure for the synthesis and purification of p-phenylenediamine-based carbon dots that can be used for the recognition of Fe(III) ions. Carbon dots have an approximately spherical shape with an average size of 10 nm and are composed of a ...
