TASI Lectures on Abelian and Discrete Symmetries in F-theory [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of Theoretical Advanced Study Institute Summer School 2017 "Physics at the Fundamental Frontier" — PoS(TASI2017), 2018
In F-theory compactifications, the abelian gauge sector is encoded in global structures of the internal geometry. These structures lie at the intersection of algebraic and arithmetic description of elliptic fibrations: While the Mordell--Weil lattice is ...

Classification of Spot-Welded Joints in Laser Thermography Data Using Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Spot welding is a crucial process step in various industries. However, classification of spot welding quality is still a tedious process due to the complexity and sensitivity of the test material, which drain conventional approaches to its limits.

Discrete gauge groups in certain F-theory models in six dimensions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
A bstractWe construct six-dimensional (6D) F-theory models in which discrete ℤ5, ℤ4, ℤ3, and ℤ2 gauge symmetries arise. We demonstrate that a special family of “Fano 3-folds” is a useful tool for constructing the aforementioned models.

The global gauge group structure of F-theory compactification with U(1)s [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
We show that F-theory compactifications with abelian gauge factors generally exhibit a non-trivial global gauge group structure. The geometric origin of this structure lies with the Shioda map of the Mordell-Weil generators.

Monopolist’s mark-up and the elasticity of substitution

open access: yesCroatian Operational Research Review, 2017
This paper analyzes the mark-up of the price of a product over marginal costs for a monopolist using Appelbaum’s theoretical model. The profit maximization model of an industry that uses the monopolist’s product as its input is formulated. Our goal is to

F-theory at constant coupling [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1996
The subspace of the moduli space of F-theory on K3 over which the coupling remains constant develops new branches at special values of this coupling. These values correspond to fixed points under the SL(2,Z) duality group of the type IIB string. The branches contain points where K3 degenerates to orbifolds of the four-torus by Z_3,Z_4 and Z_6.

E6 models from F-theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2013
F-theory is a non-perturbative formulation of type IIB superstring theory which allows for the decoupling of gravity and for the formulation of GUT theories based on the gauge group E6. In this paper we explore F-theory models in which the low energy supersymmetric theory contains the particle content of three 27 dimensional representations of the ...

Covariant formulation of f(Q) theory

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2022
In Symmetric Teleparallel General Relativity, gravity is attributed to the non-metricity. The so-called “coincident gauge” is usually taken in this theory so that the affine connection vanishes and the metric is the only fundamental variable.
