Curing the Dutch disease: The role of tariffs

open access: yesJournal of Government and Economics
This study explores the role of tariffs in addressing the Dutch Disease effect in resource-rich developing economies. By developing a theoretical framework built on existing literature, the study explores the role that the structure of taxes ...

Open-shell explicitly correlated F12 methods

open access: yesMolecular Physics, 2010
In calculations on open-shell systems, spin-flipped geminals must be used in explicitly correlated F12 methods with spin-unrestricted or restricted open-shell Hartree–Fock reference wave functions. We suggest the use of the sp ansatz of Bokhan et al. [J. Chem. Phys.

A New 3D Colon on a Chip to Decipher the Influence of Mechanical Forces on the Physiological Cellular Ecosystem

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
To dissect how mechanical forces influence intestinal physiology, we developed a stretchable 3D colon‐on‐chip that integrates tunable topography, stiffness and peristalsis‐like motion within a physiologically relevant microenvironment. We showed that stretching is a dominant factor governing epithelial behavior, markedly enhancing proliferation and ...

Angiogenic properties of dental pulp stem cells conditioned medium on endothelial cells in vitro and in rodent orthotopic dental pulp regeneration

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Objectives: To evaluate the effect of SHED-CM on the proliferation, differentiation, migration ability, cell death, gene expression and production of VEGF of HUVEC in vitro and in a rodent orthotopic dental pulp regeneration. Methods: Three culture media

First-Principles Analysis of Molecular Conduction Using Quantum Chemistry Software

open access: yes, 2002
We present a rigorous and computationally efficient method to do a parameter-free analysis of molecular wires connected to contacts. The self-consistent field approach is coupled with Non-equilibrium Green's Function (NEGF) formalism to describe ...

A Tri‐Culture Heart‐on‐a‐Chip Platform With iPSC‐Derived Cardiac Cells for Predictive Cardiotoxicity Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the first entirely isogenic heart‐on‐chip, unifying cardiomyocytes, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells from a single iPSC source. The platform reveals a critical biological insight: the endothelium actively shields cardiac tissue from drug‐induced toxicity, challenging the predictive accuracy of conventional, avascular models for ...

Poking Pluripotency: Nanoinjection Into Human iPSCs

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoinjection into hiPSCs: silicon nanotubes effectively transfect human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) with mRNA, enabled by a delayed extracellular matrix application and enhanced surface functionalization. Nanoinjection is demonstrated with several reporter mRNA, including co‐transfection of mCherry and GFP.

Management of hereditary angioedema with normal C1Inh: a series of 163 French patients

open access: yesOrphanet Journal of Rare Diseases
Background The diagnosis of hereditary angioedema with a normal C1Inh was genetic. The two most frequent pathogenic variants are found in the FXII and PLG genes.
