Subsurface model calibration for complex facies models

2018
My PhD work mainly focuses on subsurface model calibration for complex facies models. In this type of models, a Gaussian model (e.g., variogram model) fails to reproduce discrete and connectivity features of hydraulic properties. To better represent the discrete facies and their distributions, multiple point statistic (MPS) has been developed as a ...

Carbonate Facies Models and Diagenesis

2016
Carbonate aquifers consist of rocks composed mainly of the minerals calcite and dolomite. Carbonate minerals are generally much more chemically reactive under near surface geochemical conditions and thus undergo a much greater degree of chemical and physical alteration (diagenesis) than siliciclastic deposits.

Fluvial Styles and Facies Models

2006
The development of end-member facies models for a few distinctive fluvial styles has obscured the continuum that exists between fluvial channel patterns. The fourfold classification of channel styles discussed in Sect. 2.3.6.5 (Fig. 2.18) has served sedimentologists well, but should be replaced by a more sophisticated approach to channel classification.
