Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Congenital factor V deficiency in a pediatric patient causing mild hemorrhage

open access: yesHematology
Background and Aims This study aimed to elucidate the phenotype and genotype of a patient (9-year-old) with coagulation factor V (FV) deficiency to enhance our understanding of this specific disorder. Methods FV activity and antigen level were evaluated ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Integration of circadian and hypoxia signaling via non‐canonical heterodimerization

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CLOCK, BMAL1, and HIFs are basic helix‐loop‐helix and Per‐Arnt‐Sim domain (bHLH‐PAS) proteins, which function as transcription factors. bHLH‐PAS proteins are designated in two classes. Many class I proteins are regulated by environmental signals via their PAS domains, but such signals have not been identified for all.

Ram pressure stripping and galaxy orbits: The case of the Virgo cluster

open access: yes, 2001
We investigate the role of ram pressure stripping in the Virgo cluster using N-body simulations. Radial orbits within the Virgo cluster's gravitational potential are modeled and analyzed with respect to ram pressure stripping.
