New Families with Factor XII Deficiency
Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1970SummaryHereditary factor XII deficiency is reported in 2 unrelated Norwegian families.Case 1 was a 50 year old female, who was investigated because of a subcutaneous hematoma of unexplained cause. She had bruised easily, but neither she nor members of her family had suffered from definite and marked bleeding tendency.

Factor XII Deficiency and Thrombosis
Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1979The clinical implication of Factor XII deficiency has been much discussed. Most authors agree that these patients are generally asymptomatic; others have found a bleeding tendency; and some 15 scattered cases with occlusive vascular disease have heen collected from world’ literature. Since 1972 we have studied 8 patients with this deficiency associated

Hageman Factor (Factor XII) Deficiency in Marine Mammals
Science, 1969Hematologic and coagulation studies were conducted on Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and killer whales. Hematologic values were similar to those in man. These animals differed from other mammals in that the Hageman factor (factor XII) was absent and this absence caused marked prolongation of coagulation.

Molecular analysis of factor XII gene in Thai patients with factor XII deficiency
Blood Coagulation & Fibrinolysis, 2013Factor XII is the initiating protein of the intrinsic coagulation pathway. It activates factor X after being activated by the so called 'contact system'. Both congenital factor XII deficiency, usually without bleeding symptoms, and several factor XII polymorphisms with possible thrombotic tendency have been described.

Factor XII Deficiency in Women with Recurrent Miscarriage
Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, 2000Congenital thrombophilia is known to cause significant maternal complications, and possibly has an adverse effect on normal fetal development. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of factor XII (FXII) deficiency in women with a history of recurrent miscarriage.

Bilten za hematologiju i transfuziju, 1985
The work presents classical form and variant of F XII deficiency. Although a rare disorder, F XII deficiency can lead to bleeding, particularly after injuries and surgeries. Further laboratory investigation of patients with pathological APTT is required.

Effect of Factor XII Deficiency on Pregnancy and Parturition
Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1979SummaryThe clotting parameter of a primigravida with factor XII deficiency was studied during her third trimester of pregnancy, labor and post-partum; and compared with those of her newborn male infant. Sharp increases in factors VII, VIII, IX, X and moderate increases in factors II and XI were documented during pregnancy and at labor.

A New Family with Congenital Factor XII Deficiency
Acta Haematologica, 2009The case of a patient with Hageman trait and his family study are reported. Commercial plasma thromboplastin time (PTT) reagents showed a good sensitivity for detecting the plasma defect. By prolonging the incubation time of the mixture containing PTT reagent and factor XII-deficient plasma the abnormal coagulation times were not corrected.

Recurrent Thrombosis in a Patient with Factor XII Deficiency
Acta Haematologica, 2009The case history of a patient with moderate factor XII deficiency and recurrent deep vein thrombosis is described. A decreased resting fibrinolytic capacity suggests that ‘in vivo’ Hageman factor acts mainly as a promotor of clot dissolution. It further indicates that the in vitro demonstration of factor XII as an activator for other biochemical ...

Superficial migratory thrombophlebitis and factor XII deficiency
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1990A patient with painful migratory erythematous nodules for 7 years is presented. The nodules, which were localized on the lower and upper extremities, progressed to palpable cords. Multiple venograms showed no evidence of deep vein thrombosis. Skin biopsy specimens were diagnostic of superficial thrombophlebitis.
