Potassium hydroxide activation of microalgal biochar for improved adsorption efficiency

Abstract Activated carbon was prepared from Chlorella by carbonization and potassium hydroxide activation, and its structural properties and methylene blue (MB) adsorption performance were evaluated. Raw Chlorella exhibited an adsorption capacity of 287.2 mg g−1, which decreased to 214.8 mg g−1 after carbonization.

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

Population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modelling to evaluate favipiravir in combination with lopinavir–ritonavir in patients with COVID‐19

Aims The repurposed use of favipiravir in COVID‐19 has been reported to have limited clinical efficacy, yet it has been widely used in some countries. Favipiravir causes mutagenesis in RNA viruses, and it is currently unknown whether it may have a measurable effect on the virus in humans.

On the importance of including both sexes in animal studies – insights from home‐cage monitoring

ABSTRACT A review of behavioural studies using home‐cage monitoring (HCM) systems revealed that over 61% of studies used only male subjects, with only 24% including both sexes, despite evidence of substantial behavioural differences between male and female animals.
