Factorial Validity of Student Ratings of Instruction

This study tested the Systematic Distortion Hypothesis by examining the factorial validity of student ratings of university teaching. Factorial validity is defined as the degree to which covariance among judged traits resembles the actual or true covariation of observable behaviors underlying these traits.

Factorial Validity of the Jungian Type Survey

Analysis of responses of 421 subjects to the Jungian Type Survey indicated strong Introversion/Extraversion and Sensation/Intuition factors and a weak Thinking/Feeling factor. Addition of ten items designed to measure Thinking/Feeling strengthened that factor and yielded a fourth factor, labelled Female/Introversion/Feeling.

The present aim was to construct and validate the Factorial Arabic Neuroticism Scale. Based on the scales developed by Eysenck, Cattell, and Guilford, the item pool consisted of 226 nonrepeated items. Five Ph.D. referees shortened the pool to 84 items.
