A factor analysis of coping behaviors

Undertook factor analysis on questionnaire data that deal with ways of diminishing tension. Data were obtained on 132 college students. Seven patterns of coping were identified tentatively: seeking social support, dysfunctional behavior, narcotizing anxiety, problem solving, reliance on professionals, bearing with discomfort, and escape.

Neuroendocrine risk factors of suicidal behavior

Three of 22 subjects in a study of neuroendocrine correlates of clinical change made serious suicide attempts, 2 of which were lethal. The suicidal subjects had significantly higher 24-hour urinary cortisol levels and significantly lower 24-hour urinary norepinephrine-to-epinephrine ratios than the nonsuicidal patients had.

The prevalence of most behavioral risk factors varies substantially among states. The prevalence of current cigarette smoking ranges from 22 percent to 38 percent. Estimates of alcohol use show geographic clustering, with lower rates in the southeastern states.

Factorization of Behavioral Integrity

We develop a bisimulation-based nonintereference property that describes the allowed dependencies between communication behaviors of different integrity levels. The property is able to capture all possible combinations of integrity levels for the “presence” and “content” of actual communications.
