Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Performance Analysis of MIMO STBC System in Flat Fading and Frequency Selective Fading Channels

open access: yesJournal of Electrical, Electronics and Informatics, 2019
Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology is a technique that can be used to overcome multipath fading. The multipath fading is caused by signals coming from several paths that experience different attenuations, delays and phases.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Experimental Characterization and Correlation Analysis of Indoor Channels at 15 GHz

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2015
The indoor radio channels at 15 GHz are investigated based on measurements. The large- and small-scale fading behaviors as well as the delay dispersion characteristics are discussed.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Partial Equalization for MC–CDMA Systems in Non-Ideally Estimated Correlated Fading

open access: yes, 2010
Multicarrier code-division multiple access (MC–CDMA) can support high data rates in next-generation multiuser wireless communication systems. Partial equalization (PE) is a low-complexity technique for combining the signals of subcarriers to improve the ...

WAVELET MODULATION PERFORMANCE IN FADING CHANNELS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 2008
Wavelet modulation simultaneously sends dataat multiple rates through an unknown channel. Preuiousresearch has demonstrated that wauelet modulation biterror rate performance in the additive, white, Gaussiannoise channel is comparable to theoretical ...

Analysis of Coded FHSS Systems with Multiple Access Interference over Generalized Fading Channels

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2009
We study the effect of interference on the performance of coded FHSS systems. This is achieved by modeling the physical channel in these systems as a block fading channel.

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

A Reed-Solomon Coded DS-CDMA System Using Noncoherent M-ary Orthogonal Modulation over Multipath Fading Channels

open access: yes, 2000
The performance of Reed–Solomon (RS) coded direct-sequence code division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) systems using noncoherent M-ary orthogonal modulation is investigated over multipath Rayleigh fading channels.
