Adaptive Modulation in Multi-user Cognitive Radio Networks over Fading Channels

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, the performance of adaptive modulation in multi-user cognitive radio networks over fading channels is analyzed. Multi-user diversity is considered for opportunistic user selection among multiple secondary users.

Spectrum Sensing for Cognitive Radios With Unknown Noise Variance and Time-variant Fading Channels

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
The unknown noise variance and time-variant fading channels make the spectrum sensing design a challenging task for cognitive radios. Most existing sensing methods suffer from the information uncertainty and can hardly acquire promising performances in ...

Information Rates for Channels with Fading, Side Information and Adaptive Codewords

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
Generalized mutual information (GMI) is used to compute achievable rates for fading channels with various types of channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) and receiver (CSIR).

Rayleigh Fading Multi-Antenna Channels

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2002
Information theoretic properties of flat fading channels with multiple antennas are investigated. Perfect channel knowledge at the receiver is assumed. Expressions for maximum information rates and outage probabilities are derived.

Deconstructing multiantenna fading channels [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2002
Accurate and tractable channel modeling is critical to realizing the full potential of antenna arrays in wireless communications. Current approaches represent two extremes: idealized statistical models representing a rich scattering environment and parameterized physical models that describe realistic scattering environments via the angles and gains ...

Binary Fading Interference Channel with No CSIT [PDF]

open access: yes2014 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2014
We study the capacity region of the two-user Binary Fading (or Erasure) Interference Channel where the transmitters have no knowledge of the channel state information. We develop new inner-bounds and outer-bounds for this problem. We identify three regimes based on the channel parameters: weak, moderate, and strong interference regimes.
