FAGUS DOGEI WHEELER & MANCHESTER, 2021 FIG. 8A–K We found five samples that have a combination of features indicating affinity with Fagus. There is variation in vessel frequency, ray size, and occurrence of compound rays. The abundant tyloses in some samples made it difficult to measure vessel element lengths and to clearly see perforation plates.

Seed storage behaviour of Fagus sylvatica and Fagus crenata
Seed Science Research, 2002The seed storage behaviour of Fagus sylvatica and F. crenata was investigated. A large fraction of seeds of both species survived desiccation to about 3% moisture content (MC) (in equilibrium with 10% relative humidity at 20°C). Nevertheless, viability was reduced significantly and progressively by desiccation from 14% to 3% MC.
