Shaking table model test and numerical analysis of the steeply dipping bedded rock slopes under seismic actions

open access: yesScientific Reports
Based on large-scale shaking table model tests and the particle flow code PFC2D, this study investigates the failure characteristics of steeply dipping bedding rock slopes and the failure modes of the slope’s locking sections under seismic dynamic ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Analyzing multi-mode and multi-position reliability of composite reinforced plate based on branch-bound method

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao
To overcome the concurrency of multi-mode and multi-position failures of composite structures, this paper explores the application of the branch-bound method (BBM) to the multi-mode and multi-position reliability analysis and combines the Monte Carlo ...

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Mechanical characteristics of carbon fibre yacht masts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This paper provides a preliminary stress analysis of a carbon reinforced layered cylinder such as would be found in a yacht mast. The cylinder is subjected to a compressive load and both an analytical and numerical analysis of the resulting stress fields

Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.

Discrete element analysis on granular material of flow mobility characteristics under the extraterrestrial environment: insight from column collapse test

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
With the increasing interest of countries in deep space exploration, investigating the effect of extraterrestrial environment on the flow mobility and failure mode of granular column collapse, has a vital guiding significance for in-situ resource ...
