Population Status of Breeding Saker Falcons (Falco Cherrug)in Turkey
Avian Biology Research, 2009The Saker Falcon Falco cherrug breeds in Turkey and also occurs in the country during passage and in winter. Turkey represents the southwestern range limit of the global breeding distribution of the species and is relatively isolated from the neighbouring population centres in Europe and Central Asia.

Comparative Clinical Pathology, 2012An adult female saker falcon (Falco cherrug) presented to our falcon medical and research hospital with intermittent regurgitation, dyspnea, and squawking sound. Physical, radiographic, and endoscopic examination revealed a markedly enlarged thyroid gland.

Prodorsal liposarcoma in a gyr-saker hybrid falcon (Falco rusticolus x Falco cherrug)
Comparative Clinical Pathology, 2017An adult female gyr-saker hybrid falcon (Falco rusticolus x Falco cherrug) was brought to our falcon medical and research hospital for evaluation of a rapidly growing mass. Physical and radiographic examination revealed a large, oval-shaped, soft tissue mass on the left prodorsal region.

Cryptosporidium baileyi in a Saker falcon (Falco cherrug)
Journal of Comparative Pathology, 2013A 7-week-old male Saker falcon died with a history of severe refractory dyspnoea and respiratory signs. Microscopical lesions included moderate to severe lymphoplasmacytic inflammation of the middle ears, conjunctivae, third eyelids, choanae, salivary glands of the tongue, turbinates, larynx, trachea, syrinx and bronchi.

Three mixed-bred raptors (Falco rusticolus x Falco cherrug) from a German falcon breeder were presented with a history of respiratory distress. In one bird a laryngeal stridor was noted, and oral examination revealed an epiglottal swelling. In the other two birds, nasal discharge and sneezing were the main clinical symptoms.

Caryospora cherrughi sp. n. (Apicomplexa: Eimeriidae) infecting Falco cherrug in Saudi Arabia
Parasitology Research, 2012The oocysts of Caryospora cherrughi sp. n. were described from the feces of the saker falcon, Falco cherrug, collected from the falcon market in Riyadh City, Saudi Arabia. The prevalence of infection was 21.4 % (15/70). The majority of the oocysts examined had completed sporulation within 64-84 h at 24 ± 2 °C.
