Rapid false lumen dilation and pseudocoarctation due to inadvertent preferential false lumen perfusion using the frozen elephant trunk technique in a chronic residual aortic dissection

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2020
A patient with a chronic postdissection distal arch aneurysm was treated with total arch replacement and frozen elephant trunk. Following uneventful initial recovery, the frozen elephant trunk appeared to be inadvertently perfusing the false lumen ...

Carotid artery dissection linked to intermittent apnoeic swimming: A case–control study

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Internal carotid artery (ICA) dissection is a rare and potentially devastating cause of cerebral ischaemia, initiated by an intimal tear or rupture of the vasa vasorum, that can lead to an intraluminal thrombus, vascular stenosis, occlusion, or dissecting aneurysm formation.

MR imaging of a false carotid aneurysm.

open access: yes, 1986
Two months after a gunshot wound to the head of a 12-year-old boy, MR imaging outlined an asymptomatic false aneurysm of the carotid artery. The scan's ability to image in multiple planes with noninvasive visualization of pulsatile vessel flow suggests ...

Endoscopic Visualization of a Jejuno‐Colonic Fistula in a Case of Monomorphic Epitheliotropic Intestinal T‐Cell Lymphoma

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 7, Issue 1, April 2027.
Monomorphic epitheliotropic intestinal T‐cell lymphoma (MEITL) rarely presents with gastrointestinal fistula formation. A rare case of MEITL is identified in an elderly woman with marked weight loss and hypoalbuminemia, in whom a jejunocolic fistula is directly visualized endoscopically.

An Asymptomatic Case of Type B Aortic Dissection Developing Type A Dissection During Interfacility Transfer: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Total arch replacement using a frozen elephant trunk for retrograde type A aortic dissection was effective in excising the intimal tear located in the proximal descending aorta. ABSTRACT During the transfer from a hospital to a tertiary hospital, patients with acute aortic dissection can deteriorate due to aortic rupture or extension of the dissection.

Concomitant true and false lumen “parallel thoracic endovascular aortic repair” as an endovascular alternative to open arch/descending aortic reconstruction for chronic DeBakey type I dissection with aneurysmal degeneration

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2019
A 77-year-old woman presented with symptomatic thoracic aortic aneurysm within a dissected thoracoabdominal aorta distal to a previous Dacron ascending aortic replacement.

Intrahepatic False Aneurysm: A Complication of Needle Biopsy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Two months following intraoperative needle biopsy using a Tru-cut needle, the patient returned with a false aneurysm in the left lobe of the liver. Treatment consisted of complete excision of the lesion by left hepatic segmentectomy.

Fluoroquinolone Use and Risk of Pneumothorax in Adults Hospitalized With Community Acquired Pneumonia: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesThe Clinical Respiratory Journal, Volume 20, Issue 7, July 2026.
We conducted a retrospective multicenter cohort study to evaluate the association between fluoroquinolone administration for inpatients with pneumonia and 60‐day risk of pneumothorax. We found no association between fluoroquinolones and pneumothorax compared to other common antibiotics for community acquired pneumonia.
