New Famennian colonial coral (Rugosa) from the Holy Cross Mountains (Poland): an example of local evolution after Frasnian-Famennian extinction [PDF]
Colonial rugose corals are extremely rare in the fossil record after the Late Devonian (Frasnian-Famennian) extinction event. Here, we report a new genus and species, Famastraea catenata, from the late Famennian of the western part of the Holy Cross Mountains (Kowala) in Poland. Although this taxon is colonial, it displays many morphological characters

Sediment‐stressed reefs over the past 420 Myr
In order to fully elucidate the relationship between siliciclastic sedimentation and reef development, there needs to be a significant step change in how we record ancient and recent reefs. Only through the collection of constrained quantitative data, we can progress beyond the largely conjectural associations postulated for many ancient reefal systems.

Abstract Widespread organic‐rich shales are associated with perturbations in productivity or preservation conditions; however, the major controlling factors, especially the phosphorus (P) and iron (Fe) interactions and their impacts on organic carbon burial in the paleolake ecosystem remain poorly understood.

Abstract Boundaries in the Phanerozoic chronostratigraphic scale are mainly precisely defined and dated, and many correspond to environmental catastrophes induced by the emplacement of LIPs. The pre‐Ediacaran geological timescale is currently subdivided by approximate absolute ages.
