Construction of an ~700-kb transcript map around the Familial Mediterranean Fever locus on human chromosome 16p13.3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We used a combination of cDNA selection, exon amplification, and computational prediction from genomic sequence to isolate transcribed sequences from genomic DNA surrounding the familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) locus.

HHV‐8/KSHV in Solid Organ Transplantation: Current Gaps of Knowledge and Future Directions

open access: yesTransplant Infectious Disease, EarlyView.
Risk mitigation strategies, including donors/recipients screening, DNAemia monitoring in recipients at risk, CNI‐to‐mTOR inhibitors switch, antivirals, and rituximab for KICS, may mitigate the impact of HHV‐8/KSHV infection in SOT. This review provides an update on KICS, identifies research gaps, and summarizes advances in screening and management ...

Distribution of MEFV gene mutations and R202Q polymorphism in the Serbian population and their influence on oxidative stress and clinical manifestations of inflammation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND: The Mediterranean fever (MEFV) gene codes for protein pyrin, one of the regulators of inflammasome activity in innate immune cells. Mutations in this gene are considered the primary cause of Familial Mediterranean fever, but are also found in

Detection of Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Babesia aktasi in a wild bezoar goat (Capra aegagrus): Overlap with domestic goat strains

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 40, Issue 1, Page 190-197, March 2026.
This study provides the first molecular detection of tick‐borne pathogens in Capra aegagrus. Genetic analysis reveals similarities between Babesia aktasi and Anaplasma phagocytophilum strains in bezoar and domestic goats, indicating potential pathogen exchange.
