Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Psychometric properties of the Arabic version of the McMaster family assessment device–general functioning subscale (FAD-GF) among a sample of Lebanese adults

open access: yesCogent Psychology
Background Family functioning is linked to physical and psychological health. The 12-item McMaster Family Assessment Device–General Functioning Subscale (FAD-GF) is used for assessing overall family functioning; however, it is not validated in Lebanon, a

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Changes in, and factors associated with family functioning: results of four cross-sectional household surveys from 2011 to 2017 in Hong Kong

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Background Previous research has well-documented that family functioning is an important predictor of individuals’ physical and mental health. However, relatively little research has explored family functioning at the family and population levels, such ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Effects of family functioning and family hardiness on self-efficacy among college students [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Family functioning has been related to numerous developmental problems. Although there are other factors affecting a student?s self-efficacy, this research focused on the effects of family functioning and family hardiness.

Kähler families of Green’s functions

open access: yesJournal de l’École polytechnique — Mathématiques
In a remarkable series of works, Guo, Phong, Song, and Sturm have obtained key uniform estimates for the Green’s functions associated with certain Kähler metrics. In this note, we broaden the scope of their techniques by removing one of their assumptions and allowing the complex structure to vary.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
