Abstract families of relations

open access: yesJournal of Computer and System Sciences, 1971
A generalization of an abstract family of languages—abstract family of relations (AFR)—is introduced and its special cases are considered. The properties of AFR's and their special cases and their relation to abstract families of languages are studied. Many known formal schemes for description of language translations are shown to define AFRs.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

The transthyretin‐related protein family [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 2003
A number of proteins related to the homotetrameric transport protein transthyretin (TTR) forms a highly conserved protein family, which we present in an integrated analysis of data from different sources combined with an initial biochemical characterization.

Setup‐Optimized Sequencing in Job Shops: Modeling Workstation Productivity and Lateness Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Setup‐optimized sequencing in job‐shop production creates a trade‐off between productivity improvement and schedule reliability. A WIP‐explicit modeling framework links sequencing‐induced productivity gains and lateness dispersion through the production operating curve.
