Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Prediction and Reduction of Aerodynamic Noise of the Multiblade Centrifugal Fan

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2014
An aerodynamic and aeroacoustic investigation of the multiblade centrifugal fan is proposed in this paper, and a hybrid technique of combining flow field calculation and acoustic analysis is applied to solve the aeroacoustic problem of multiblade ...

Design of a low speed vaneaxial fan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The ventilation of industrial areas and tunnels is a safety requirement and characterizes the quality of a working environment. Low speed fans are used to achieve the required ventilation level.

Ontology‐Aligned Structuring and Reuse of Multimodal Materials Data and Workflows Toward Automatic Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Reproduction of stacking fault energy calculations from literature with a semi‐automated large language model‐assisted extraction procedure: extraction of simulation protocol, atomistic structures, computational parameters, and reported results, ontology alignment, knowledge graph construction and, finally, recomputation forvalidation.

Smart Blade Count Selection to Align Modal Propagation Angle with Stator Stagger Angle for Low-Noise Ducted Fan Designs

open access: yesAerospace
The rotor–stator interaction noise is a major source of fan noise. Especially for low-speed fan stages, the tonal component is typically a dominant noise source.

Application of computational fluid dynamics to turbo machinery unsteady aerodynamics and aero acoustics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The aim of this thesis is to obtain numerical data for fan tone noise propagation and reducing the load from blade-tower interaction. By using a CFD code, MB3D, which is supplied by Professor Li He, fan tone noise transmission and wind turbine blade ...

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Influence of diffuser on aerodynamic noise of a forward curved fan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In order to clarify the influence of a diffuser on the characteristics of a forward curved fan, the influence of the bare ratio and the outlet angle on the characteristics of the fan were measured through an experiment performed with an actual fan as ...

From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.

Machine Learning‐Supported Analysis for Predicting and Visualizing Nonlinear Relationships Between Material Properties in Electroplated Chromium Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...
