Impact of the turbulence modeling approach on the accuracy of the fan noise level prediction

open access: yesВестник Самарского университета: Аэрокосмическая техника, технологии и машиностроение, 2018
The fan is the dominant source of noise for modern high bypass ratio aircraft engines. The article presents the results of investigating the influence of the approach to modeling the turbulence in modeling fan stage noise generation on the results of ...

Numerical Investigation of Unsteady Flow and Aerodynamic Noise Characteristics of an Automotive Axial Cooling Fan

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Low-speed axial cooling fans are frequently used to manage engine temperature by ensuring that adequate quantities of air pass through heat exchangers, even at low vehicle speeds or in the idle condition. This study aims to provide a better understanding

Experimental study of blade rigidity effects on the global and the local performances of a thick blades axial-flow fan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
An experimental investigation on the aerodynamic performances of thick blades axial-flow fans was carried out in this study. Two fans are considered, the first one is rotomoulded (in plastic) and the second one is milled (in aluminium). Both have exactly

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Source of Noise in Fans [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1959
Many of the phenomena of noise of fans can be predicted from the simple assumption that the source of noise power is a pressure pulse created by the motion of the blade or impellor. From this assumption the well known fan sound laws can be derived: (1) the sound power varies as the fifth power of the blade tip speed, and (2) the sound power is ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Realizable k-ε Model-Based Gradual-Radius Volute Tongue on Aerodynamic Performance and Noise of Multi-Wing Centrifugal Fan

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The multi-wing centrifugal fan is an important part of air conditioning systems, particularly in the automotive domain. Due to the compact structure and short blade passage of the fan, it may reduce the aerodynamic performance and generate noise.
