Optical vortices at Fano resonances

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2012
We study the transmission properties of a one-dimensional array with intersite side-coupled defect and demonstrate that, as the system undergoes sharp Fano resonance, it exhibits geometry-induced vorticity of the energy flux. The optical vortex inverts its handedness at the Fano resonance, revealing a strong link between two phenomena, both being of ...

Mechanically Induced Switching Between Orbital‐ and Fano‐Resonance Rectification in a Dual‐Anchored Molecular Junction

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Mechanical control of anchoring chemistry enables switching between orbital‐driven and interference‐driven rectification in a single‐molecule junction. ABSTRACT Achieving precise control over charge transport through individual molecules is central to advancing single‐molecule electronics.

Boosting Fano resonances in single layered concentric core–shell particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Efficient excitation of Fano resonances in plasmonic systems usually requires complex nano-structure geometries and some degree of symmetry breaking.

Magnetically Controlled Atomic–Plasmonic Fano Resonances [PDF]

open access: yesNano Letters, 2017
Following the efforts of size reduction and the integration of light and vapor systems, great promise is held in the integration of vapor and confined electromagnetic waves. By confining light to nanoscale dimensions, fundamental properties of light-vapor interactions may vary significantly.

Fano-Like Resonance in an All-in-Fiber Structure

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
We achieve Fano-like resonances in an all-in-fiber structure embedded with an in-line Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI). A fiber Bragg grating is inserted into MZI's one arm to form a resonance, which functions as the discrete state of the Fano ...

Fano resonances in plasmonic core-shell particles and the Purcell effect

open access: yes, 2018
Despite a long history, light scattering by particles with size comparable with the light wavelength still unveils surprising optical phenomena, and many of them are related to the Fano effect.

Refractive Index Sensing Based on Multiple Fano Resonances in a Split-Ring Cavity-Coupled MIM Waveguide

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
A metal–insulator–metal (MIM) waveguide consisting of a circular split-ring resonance cavity (CSRRC) and a double symmetric rectangular stub waveguide (DSRSW) is designed, which can excite quadruple Fano resonances.

Glycerol concentration sensor based on the MIM waveguide structure

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Glycerol is widely used in medicine, industry and skin care products. This study investigated a high-sensitivity glycerol concentration sensor based on double Fano resonances in a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) waveguide structure, established a coupling ...

Nonlinear Fano-Feshbach resonances

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2009
We study the wave scattering in an one-dimensional discrete system with two side-coupled defects. Each of the defects exhibits the Fano resonance as a resonant suppression of transmission, i.e., resonant reflection. We demonstrate that the interaction between two Fano resonances may give rise to a birth of a very narrow resonance.

Fano resonances in acoustics

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2010
In contrast to completely open systems, laterally confined domains can sustain localized, truly trapped modes with nominally zero radiation loss. These discrete resonant modes cannot be excited linearly by the continuous propagating duct modes due to symmetry constraints.
